Uunisaari is a popular recreational island and picnic destination in front of Kaivopuisto. Uunisaari consists of the southern and northern island, which are separated by a narrow strait and connected by a wooden bridge. Pedestrians can also walk from the adjacent Liuskasaari island to Uunisaari island.

The HSS ferry service operates from Merisatama to Liuskasaari, from which pedestrians can walk to Uunisaari. The ferry operates between noon and 20.00 on weekdays and between 10.00 and 20.00 on weekends. The ferry can be summoned by lifting the semaphore, or signpost, up on the dock. In peak times, you may have to wait for the ferry for approximately 10 minutes. The ferry departs from the HSS connecting ferry dock in Merisatamanranta halfway between Cafe Caruselli and Kompassitori.

Direct service to Uunisaari on the weekends will start in May. More detailed timetables and possible extensions will be announced later.
