Safety surveys for residents have been conducted in Helsinki every three years since 2003. The survey investigates the experiences and views of Helsinki residents aged 15 to 79 years on the safety of the city and their own residential area and the development of the safety situation.

The survey investigates, among other things, the sense of safety of Helsinki residents, experiences related to crimes and accidents as well as trust in the operation of the police and the Rescue Department.

This year, the survey sample is larger than before. The aim is to obtain more accurate regional information.

The survey has been conducted in 7 languages. This year, it is possible to respond in English, Estonian, Arabic, Somali and Russian in addition to Finnish and Swedish.

The survey will be randomly sent to 12,000 households in Helsinki during September and October. The survey contains instructions on how to respond.

The results of the survey will be published in parts as before. The first results are expected in early 2025.

The survey is carried out in cooperation between the City of Helsinki and the Helsinki Police.
