Operational grants and advance decisions
The application for operational grants starts on Wednesday, June 5, and ends on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 16.00. Please be prepared that on the new application forms, we will ask more detailed questions about the focus of activities in Helsinki. Financial information and details about the activities carried out will also be collected more thoroughly.
To better adhere to the city's budget confirmation schedule, decisions on operational support and basic art education will be made in two parts, as in 2024. At the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, decisions will be made on the recipients of operational grants and the basic arts education grants for 2025. For those entities that received operational grants in 2024 and are proposed to receive operational grants for 2025 based on their applications, part of the operational grant will be awarded as an advance. The advance is 25 percent of the entity's operational grant for 2024.
With the advance decision, we aim to create continuity in the activities of the grant recipients and secure the conditions for the activities at the beginning of the year. The Culture and Library Sub-committee will decide on the final amounts of operational grants and basic arts education grants for 2025 at their first meeting of the year in January–February 2025.
Development grants
The application period for development grants and the Helsinki Model development grants begins on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 and ends on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 at 16:00. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Basic arts education grants and development grants for basic arts education
The application for basic arts education grants and development grants for basic arts education begins on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The application for basic arts education grants ends on Thursday, September 26 at 16:00. The application for development grants for basic arts education ends on Monday, September 2 at 16:00.
At the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, part of the basic arts education grant sums will be granted in advance to those who received basic arts education grants for 2024 and are proposed to continue receiving them for 2025. The final decisions on grant sums will be made at the first meeting of the Culture and Library Section in January–February 2025.
Decisions on development grants for basic arts education will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Project grants
The application for project grants is continuous, and generally they are granted for the current year.
Project grants for 2024 will be processed in autumn 2024 as follows:
- Applications submitted by Wednesday, August 14 at 16:00 will be processed at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
- Applications submitted by Wednesday, September 25 at 16:00 will be processed at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
- Applications submitted by Wednesday, October 23 at 4 16:00 will be processed at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Note! This is the last processing for projects for the year 2024.
If the amount of the project grant applied for is up to 7,500 euros and the grant amount awarded is up to 5,000 euros, the decision will be made by the office holder, not by the Culture and Library Sub-committee. The office holder's decisions are made by the Head of Cultural Services and Support and generally follow the decision schedule of the Culture and Library Sub-committee so that the office holder's decisions come after the sub-committee meetings.
Project grants for 2025
You can apply for a project grant in advance already in 2024 for projects whose first public event takes place during the first three months of 2025. If you submit such an application by Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at 16:00 it will be processed at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024.
In 2025, project grant applications will be processed for the first time at the Culture and Library Sub-committee meeting in January-February. To be included in this processing, the application must reach us by Monday, December 9th at 16:00. Grants for projects in 2025 can also be applied for later in ongoing applications according to the processing schedule for 2025.
