Pedestrians will soon have direct access to Uunisaari off the coast of Kaivopuisto again, when the traditional floating pontoon bridge from Merisatamanranta to the northern part of Uunisaari is set up. The pedestrian bridge facilitates the recreational use of Uunisaari during the winter season, while cutting off the navigation channel between the island and the shore.

Uunisaari, which is located just off the coast of Kaivopuisto, consists of two connected islands, a northern one and a southern one, with a total area of approximately three hectares. Uunisaari is also connected by a pedestrian bridge to the neighbouring Liuskasaari, expanding the popular recreational areas of Kaivopuisto, Eiran ranta and Merisatama all year round.

There is also a restaurant called Restaurant Uunisaari on the island.
