Tourists have again arrived in Helsinki after two summers of uncertainty. The City of Helsinki Tourist Information has updated and revamped its services to better serve both tourists and residents and to be available for them where questions arise.
Railway station service point closed, pavilion and Info Container serving in summer
The tourist information point that served at the central railway station since 2018 closed for good on Sunday, 15 May 2022. The following day, 16 May, a tourist information point for the summer season opened next to the Old Market Hall on the Lyypekinlaituri pier. Originally built for the Helsinki Biennial, the pavilion will serve customers every day until the end of September, Monday–Saturday at 9:00–18:00 and Sunday at 9:00–16:00.
The second information point for the summer is the Info Container, which opened on 1 June. It will be open until the end of August. The container, located in Töölönlahti Park opposite Little Finlandia, is open to customers daily from 9:30 to 16:00. In addition to tourist information, both points provide brochures about Helsinki and its partner destinations as well as tips and local flavours for a successful city visit.
In addition, a new permanent tourist information point will be opened in the city centre area in autumn 2022.
Information also available from Helpers and electronic service channels
Like every summer, Helsinki Helpers in their green vests can again be seen on the city streets. The Helpers will patrol the most frequently visited areas of the city every day of the week until the end of August and will also meet passengers of international cruise ships when they arrive. Anyone can ask the Helpers anything and will be sure to receive an answer. Tourist information personnel will serve customers in as many as 18 different languages this summer.
Customers can also reach tourist information personnel by phone, email and chat every day at 9:00–16:00. The contact information and addresses of the electronic and other customer service are regularly updated on the MyHelsinki(Link leads to external service) website.
