Helsinki’s newest outdoor gym features OmniGYM devices, which allow users to adjust the resistance with a movable stack of weights, as well as a Big Rig for diverse functional training.
We have also improved the attractiveness of the area with additional lighting. There is also a new bicycle rack as well as curved wood benches and rubbish bins. The footpath has been resurfaced and the clogged drum pipe under the path has been replaced.
The Linnunlauluntie outdoor gym is open to all, free of charge, and open 24/7/365, just like every other city-operated outdoor gym.
New outdoor gym at Mustikkamaa to be one of the largest in the city – opening ceremony on 16 November
Outdoor gyms have become wildly popular among residents, and new ones open at a rate of 2–6 gyms per year. One of the newest and largest of them is at Mustikkamaa sports park, which opened in October. Its official opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, 16 November at 11 am – 1 pm.
Paavo Arhinmäki, Deputy Mayor of the Culture and Leisure Division, will declare the outdoor gym open. The programme will also include device guidance and a hanging contest, with a DJ to play music for the entire event.
The Mustikkamaa Outdoor Gym is one of the city’s largest. It features nearly twenty adjustable devices as well as a functional area for running sprints and agility, jumping, and bodyweight exercises.
Another, completely new outdoor gym was completed in the Ruskeasuo Sports Park earlier this year. Coming up, we are preparing significant changes to the outdoor gyms in Myllypuro and Pitäjänmäki, which will both see a near-total overhaul.
