People infected with coronavirus were eligible for infectious disease allowance based on a certificate from a nurse or a doctor under the temporary amendment to the Health Insurance Act during 2022. The validity of the temporary amendment to the Health Insurance Act will end on 31 December 2022.
The municipalities in Uusimaa already abandoned large-scale isolation of people infected with the coronavirus and quarantines of people exposed to the virus, in early 2022. In Uusimaa, there are no longer grounds for large-scale isolation and quarantine decisions under the Communicable Diseases Act, which justified the application of infectious disease allowance.
Coronavirus infections are still prevalent, but vaccination provides good protection against severe forms of the disease.
