This summer, the pupils of Helsinki in 1st to 3rd grade can take part in day camp activities at certain playgrounds on weekdays between 9:00 and 16:00. Participation is free of charge and it requires an advance registration on the Day camps page. Registration for day camps opens on 20 May at 8:00. Day camps also offer lunch as usual. Playgrounds that arrange day camp activities and summer lunch.
Each camp has its own instructor and places for 10 children. Day camp activities are, primarily, organised outdoors. The indoor areas of the playground are reserved for the participants of the day camp.
During the summer, the playgrounds will not have supervised activities for families with small children (under open early childhood education), or public events or festivities. The wading pools of playgrounds will not be filled with water this summer. Families can use the play equipment of the playgrounds.
Free summer lunch for everyone under 16 at playgrounds
Summer lunch is served in all open playgrounds from 7 June to 10 August. You don’t need to sign up for the free summer lunch. Please bring a water bottle and a spoon/fork from home. Disposable plates are provided at the playground.
Special attention is paid to safe distances and hygiene instructions in the arrangement of summer lunches. Please follow the safety instructions of the playground, take care of good hand hygiene and enjoy your meal in small groups. Food is served at multiple locations at the playground. Please keep a safe distance from others when queueing for food. The staff of the playgrounds will provide you with instructions and guidance.
