The City of Helsinki awards sports grants mainly to registered non-profit associations for the promotion of sports and physical activity. Approximately EUR 9 million was earmarked for sports grants in the 2025 budget. At its meeting on 7 November, the Sports Sub-committee of the Culture and Leisure Committee decided on the forms of grants, the grant eligibility criteria and the application periods for 2025.
The following grants will be applied for at the beginning of the year:
- Operating grant (for sports clubs), application period 10 January – 15 February 2025
- Facility usage grant (for sports clubs), application period 10 January – 15 February 2025
- Grant for other associations that promote physical activity 10 January – 15 February 2025
- Orienteering map grant, application period 10 January – 15 February 2025
- Grant to promote sports and physical activity for the elderly, application period 13 January –7 February 2025 at 4 pm
Information sessions on spring grant applications
Sports Services will organise two information sessions at the beginning of January, especially for applying for operating grants and facility usage grants and for other associations promoting sports, which will open on 10 January. The information sessions are open to anyone interested in applying for grants and present the eligibility criteria for the grants applied for and the application method, as well as answer the participants’ questions related to applying.
The second sports grant application information session will be held at the Culture and Leisure Division’s facilities in the Konepaja area in Vallila. You must sign up for the event in advance.
