Supercell Oy applies for reservation for head office extension in Jätkäsaari

The current premises of the gaming company Supercell Oy are becoming crowded and the company needs more space for its operations. The extension would provide room for 600 new employees by 2029. The reservation proposes that the area be reserved for Supercell Oy for the planning and implementation of the premises project in Jätkäsaari. The area to be reserved is located north of Supercell's current location in a public area owned by the City. The premise of the project will be presented at an online event on 20 May, and the plans can be commented on online until 7 June.

The planning area is at the junction of three valid detailed plans on the border of Jätkäsaari, central Helsinki and Ruoholahti. The implementation of the project requires a change to the detailed plan. The area currently contains a square, light transport routes and parking areas.

An office building with 12–16 levels is being planned for the northern section of the current Supercell office building at Jätkäsaarenlaituri 1. The building site is significant in terms of the cityscape. The tall section of the new building forms a new landmark in the north-east corner of Jätkäsaari and a gate building in the immediate vicinity of the main entry route of the area.

The architecture of the new building will continue the cityscape and architectural modelling principles of the existing Wood City block. The intention is to connect the extension to the existing building in terms of functions. The extension will be designed and implemented so that both buildings can operate as stand-alone, indepedent properties. On the street level, it is possible to enable business facilities, such as café, service or exhibition spaces, that serve urban and local residents.

The project will be presented at an online event on 20 May, the drafts can be commented on online from 16 May to 7 June 2024

The project participation and evaluation plan (PEP) details why the station plan is drawn up, how planning progresses and at what stage it can be influenced. The participation and evaluation plan will be supplemented, if necessary, as the planning process progresses. The plan can be viewed from 16 May to 7 June 2024. It is available in the map service at https://kartta.hel.fi/suunnitelmat(Link leads to external service) and at hel.fi/suunnitelmat, and you can submit feedback on it.

The premise of the project will be discussed at an online event on 20 May 2024 at 17–17.45. Alternative plans will be presented at the event. A link to the online event can be found at hel.fi/asukastilaisuudet starting from 17.5.

You can also comment on the plan online at https://supercell.com/jatkasaari(Link leads to external service) until 7 June. The feedback will be taken into consideration in detailed and further planning.

After the Urban Environment Committee has approved the reservation, the Economic Development Sub-committee of the City Board will make a decision on the matter.
