Pedestrians will soon again have a direct route to Uunisaari in front of Kaivopuisto Park, when a traditional pontoon bridge will be installed from Merisatamanranta to Northern Uunisaari on Friday 15 November 2024. A pedestrian footbridge will enable the recreational use of Uunisaari during the winter season, while cutting off the boat route between the island and the shore.

Located in front of Kaivopuisto Park, Uunisaari is about three hectares in size and consists of an interconnected northern and southern island. There is also a pedestrian bridge from Uunisaari to the adjacent Liuskasaari, which expands the recreational areas of Kaivopuisto Park, Eiranranta and Merisatama for year around use.

Restaurant Uunisaari also operates on the island.
