The restaurants for Kasarmitori’s summer terrace have been selected. The two-week open application process brought in 121 applications, and twelve restaurateurs have now been chosen from Helsinki’s city centre area.

“We actually received slightly more applications than for Senate Square last summer. There was a great deal of interest, so the choice was difficult to make. In our selection, we focused on the diversity of the overall package, interesting concepts and quality,” says Helsingin Leijona Oy’s Commercial Director Peggy Bauer, who is responsible for the organisation of the terrace area.

The area will be an extension of the city centre terraces, so we selected restaurant operators from the central area of Helsinki. For the sake of fairness, restaurants or cafés that were selected for last summer’s terrace on Senate Square were not accepted for the Kasarmitori Square summer terrace.

Once again, customer will get to enjoy an exquisite offering of delicious seasonal treats including breakfast in the summer sun, fresh lunches, delicious bagels, sourdough pizza, tacos, mezes, seafood, craft beers, excellent wines, cocktails, and much more.

“Together, the Kasarmitori terrace and the restaurants along the surrounding streets form a wonderful setting for unforgettable culinary trips to various corners of the world from Mexico to Asia and from the Nordic region to the Middle East. You could call it a culinary oasis for those craving good food or a trip abroad,” Bauer says in summary.

According to current plans, the Kasarmitori summer terrace will open on Helsinki Day on 12 June and remain open every day until 15 August. The summer terrace will feature about 560 customer seats in total.
