The appointment booking for the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine for Helsinki residents aged 80 and older is now open. The quickest way to book an appointment is at bookcovidvaccine.fi(Link leads to external service). You can also book an appointment by calling tel. 09 310 46300 (Mon–Fri 8:00–16:00).
The fourth dose will only be administered by appointment and it can be given when at least three months have passed since the third dose.
The vaccines will be administered at City of Helsinki vaccination points, the locations and opening hours of which are listed at hel.fi/vaccination.
“The fourth dose is a booster vaccine to improve protection against coronavirus disease for the elderly. For people aged 80 and over, the protective efficacy of three doses is weaker and shorter than among the younger population, and the booster vaccine is therefore needed. So this is why we now encourage everyone aged 80 and over to get their fourth dose,” says Timo
Lukkarinen, Medical Director of Health Stations.
Fourth doses also offered to nursing home residents and home care clients
Fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are also currently offered to all elderly nursing home residents as well as home care clients aged 80 and older. Depending on their situation, home care clients are offered to have the vaccine either at a vaccination point or at home. The city requests that as many people as possible get the vaccine at a vaccination point.
Persons who have recovered from COVID-19 currently not in need of fourth dose
Currently, a fourth dose will not be administered if the elderly person has previously received three doses of the vaccine and has been infected with coronavirus.
Vaccination requires a valid form of ID
In order to get a vaccine, you must prove your identity, for example, with an ID card or Kela card. The vaccine product administered as the fourth dose for people aged 80 and older is Pfizer mRNA. More
information on the vaccine is available on the THL website(Link leads to external service). Getting the vaccine is voluntary and free of charge.
