Organised by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, the theme of this year’s Helsinki Security Forum is European comprehensive security. The programme for the three-day event will feature discussions on various aspects of security, ranging from intelligence and the defence industry to climate security and the safeguarding of critical infrastructure.

The conference will consist of an invitation-only programme, along with keynote speeches and panel discussions streamed for a broader audience.  The overarching theme of the conference is “Towards a total defence of Europe – From apathy to action?”

This year, Helsinki Security Forum will explore whether Finland’s comprehensive security model could offer a framework for broader European security planning.

“Europe’s security and operating environment is undergoing significant changes. Finland is often praised for its high level of preparedness and comprehensive approach to crisis planning. As the capital, this topic is of great relevance to Helsinki – the city, its civil resources and the business sector play an important role in comprehensive preparedness alongside the Defence Forces,” says Juhana Vartiainen, Mayor of Helsinki.
