
Helsinki Mayor Juhana Vartiainen is currently participating in the annual meeting of the Eurocities Executive Committee in Leipzig. The top decision-making body of the Eurocities network consists of mayors from 12 member cities. The Mayor of Helsinki was selected to serve a three-year term on the committee in 2023.
During his trip, Mayor Vartiainen will also participate in the European Mayors Summit, which brings together the leaders of dozens of European cities. The theme of the summit is “Upgrading local democracy”. During the event, the gathered mayors will have the opportunity to share their experiences and best practices, as well as discuss different innovative approaches to resolving pressing challenges.
