THL recommends that third vaccine doses are offered to people who are over 18 years old. According to the current estimate, Helsinki will start giving third vaccine doses to those under the age of 60 in January. When it comes to the third dose for those under the age of 60, the vaccines are given from the oldest age group to the youngest, as with previous vaccines. We will inform separately when the appointment booking for these groups opens.
“Before we can offer third doses to people under the age of 60 we must ensure that residents in the municipality get the first and second doses. Also those over 60 years old and people in risk groups must get their third doses first”, says Leena
Turpeinen, Director of Health and substance abuse services.
“We believe that we can start giving third vaccine doses to those under the age of 60 in January. We will provide more information about this later”, Turpeinen says.
“We encourage everyone who has not got their first and second doses to visit the vaccination points. Vaccines are given to everyone over the age of 12”, Turpeinen continues.
At the moment, the third corona vaccine dose is given to those over 60 years old, over 12-year-olds who belong to risk groups 1 and 2 and those who have received their first and second dose with an interval of less than 6 weeks, and have got the second dose at least 5,5–6 months ago.
Earlier, it has not been possible to get the third vaccine dose. The third dose is also offered to people with severe immunodeficiency if at least two months has elapsed since the second dose.

Both corona and influenza vaccines are now provided at the corona vaccination points and this can cause congestion both with the appointment booking as well as at the vaccination points. We ask the residents of the municipality to come to vaccination appointments punctually.
We are waiting for more precise information from THL about corona vaccination of children between the ages of 5–11. We will provide information about this separately when the vaccination timetable is confirmed.
