The project has progressed to the decision-making phase. The aim is to begin construction in the summer of 2025 and for the school to be ready for use by the 2028 autumn semester at the latest.

In addition to Postipuisto, the new school and daycare centre building will also serve the new residential area on the northern side of Länsi-Pasila. It will replace the temporary buildings placed on the plot.

The three-floor building will provide facilities for roughly 200 children in daycare and 650 comprehensive school pupils. The school yard is located on the park side, and there is a safe route to the school from the Postipuisto residential area.

The building will be in energy class A and utilise energy produced on-site: geothermal heat, air/water heat pumps and solar panels. The objective is for the building to receive the BREEAM Excellent environmental certificate.

The temporary daycare centre pavilion will be moved nearby to make room for construction when the daycare centre goes on a break in the early summer of 2025. The pavilion school will remain on the plot, and special attention will be paid to its safety: the builder will ensure that the school can operate and be accessed safely during the construction work. Trees will be removed from the plot to make room for construction.

The final decision on the project will be made by the Helsinki City Council.
