Starting Monday, 7 March, Novavax’s Nuvaxovid coronavirus vaccine will be offered in Helsinki at the Jätkäsaari vaccination point. The vaccination is only by appointment. You can book an appointment by calling 09 310 46300 on weekdays at 8:00–16:00.

Novavax is recommended for those age 18 or older who cannot receive a vaccine containing mRNA or adenovirus vectors (Moderna, Pfizer or Janssen). The vaccine can also be given to people age 18 or older who want a protein vaccine instead of other vaccine products.

“The Novavax vaccine is suitable for almost all adults. For example, having had COVID-19 does not prevent vaccination. If you have not received a COVID-19 vaccine before, you have a good opportunity to do so in Jätkäsaari,” says Timo Lukkarinen, Medical Director of Health Stations.

You can get the vaccination by showing your identity card or Kela card. The vaccination is voluntary and free of charge.

First and second doses of vaccine

The interval between the first and second dose of the Novavax vaccine is 6–12 weeks. The minimum dose interval is at least 6 weeks, as a shorter interval may reduce the protective efficacy.

Third dose of vaccine

The vaccine product used for the third dose is a vaccine containing mRNA or an adenoviral vector. If no other vaccines can be given due to medical reasons, Novavax can also be given for the third dose.
