The Yrjönkatu swimming hall will be closed for tile repairs and the spring season will end earlier than usual, on 1 April 2023. Sections of the big swimming pool area will be cut off as a safety measure on Friday, 24 March.
The tile repairs will start immediately in April and they are estimated to last about six weeks. The repairs include detaching and reattaching the 100-year-old tiles of the hall. The big swimming pool of the Yrjönkatu swimming hall will not be opened again before the summer break; the pool will be opened in August.
Despite the tile repairs, the instructed sports courses held on the third floor of the hall will be held as planned until 30 April. Furthermore, the sauna on the fourth floor can be rented until 30 April.
The comprehensive renovation of the Yrjönkatu swimming hall is planned to start in 2024. During the comprehensive renovation, the swimming hall’s services will also be reformed to be more customer-oriented and environmentally friendly while still respecting tradition and the unique atmosphere of the swimming hall.
