
The new hospital will have facilities for the Helsinki Metropolitan Area’s psychiatric care, demanding neurological rehabilitation of HUS Group and approximately half of the somatic beds of Helsinki Hospital, as well as facilities for the outpatient clinics, support services, teaching, research and administration that support these functions.
All in all, the joint hospital will have more than 900 beds, out of which 394 are for somatic care, 54 for neurological rehabilitation, 444 for psychiatry and 30 for child psychiatry. In addition, the hospital will have 10 housing coaching places. There will be a parking facility for 550 cars and maintenance facilities underneath the new main building.
Preparatory work for the construction project began in spring 2023. The goal is to complete the main building by the end of 2027 and the entire hospital by the end of 2030. The construction project is being carried out by the Laakso Joint Hospital alliance.
