In Helsinki, close to 4,700 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given on site in upper secondary level educational institutions. The second round of vaccinations came to a close at the end of last week. The vaccinations were provided at educational institutions to all students, regardless of their municipality of residence.

In the future, secondary level students, like other young people and residents of Helsinki, can seek COVID-19 vaccinations at vaccination points.

Vaccination coverage for 16-19-year-old residents of Helsinki is now at 81 per cent for the first dose and 71 per cent for the second dose. In Helsinki, a total of just over 36,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given to 16-19-year-old residents of Helsinki and also to those living in other municipalities.

"The vaccinations went well on site, thanks to the students, the vaccination workers and the staff of the educational institutions. The young people themselves have also been very active in seeking vaccinations. Recently, the introduction of the COVID-19 passport seems to have increased young people’s willingness to get vaccinated", says Medical Director Timo Carpén.

"The possibility of vaccinations offered in educational institutions has made it easier to take the vaccinations. It’s certain that even those who may have hesitated in getting vaccinated have received support and encouragement after we have taken the vaccinations to them. Of course, the offering of vaccinations in educational institutions has also been reflected in other student health care services, for example, the waiting time for nurses has been longer than usual", says head nurse Anne Röppänen.

In Helsinki, COVID-19 vaccinations are available at Jätkäsaari, Kannelmäki, Malmi and Myllypuro vaccination points and pop-up points. There is no need to book appointments for the first and second doses to be given. You can also book an appointment for the vaccination, if you wish, via bookcovidvaccine.fi(Link leads to external service) or by calling tel. 09 310 46300 (on weekdays 8:00–16:00). A guardian can also book an appointment for a minor.

Information on all vaccination points and pop-up vaccination points can be found at hel.fi/vaccination.
