Lost pets found in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area are cared for at the Viikki Animal Shelter. The animal shelter is operated by the Helsinki Animal Welfare Association (HESY ry).
Animals are kept at the shelter for 15 days. During this time, the owner can retrieve their pet in exchange for the care costs. Found pets can be brought to the animal shelter free of charge.
If the owner of a pet cannot be reached within 15 days, its ownership is transferred to HESY ry. For more information about the operation of the animal shelter, please visit the Viikki Animal Shelter website.
HESY ry is responsible for caring for and keeping lost and found animals for 15 days at the owner's expense.
