New 2025–2029 City Council term of office

The Helsinki City Council is Helsinki’s highest decision-making body. It is responsible for the city’s operations and finances. In the municipal elections, decision-makers, councillors, and their deputies are elected to serve on the council for a four-year term.

Municipal elections will take place on Sunday 13 April 2025. Advance voting in Finland takes place 2–8 April and advance voting abroad 2–5 April.
