The City aims to maintain the green areas of Mustikkamaa. The goal is to improve Mustikkamaa's signs and routes, to stop the deterioration of nature, and to develop the services in the area in a sustainable manner.
Mustikkamaa island is a popular outdoor recreational area near the inner city. Mustikkamaa is an important recreational area, especially for the residents of Kalasatama and Kulosaari, and it is a familiar spot for Korkeasaari visitors. When Kruunusillat (Crown Bridges) will be completed in the late 2020s, the recreational use of the area will increase even more.
Mustikkamaa's maintenance and development plan was updated in 2023. The plan will be used to direct the management of Mustikkamaa and the development of services for about ten years.
