Laajasalo as a district
New and high-quality apartments, transport connections and services are being built in Laajasalo. Laajasalo residents live in blocks of flats, terraced houses and detached houses. All parts of the island have easy access to the waterfront and green spaces.
The new architecture gives a modern and high-quality look to the main streets and Yliskylä in the centre of Laajasalo. In the 2020s, new homes will be built mainly along the light rail line and the main streets on Koirasaarentie, Ilomäentie, Reposalmentie and Laajasalontie.
Laajasalo has detailed plans for the different phases. A new maritime area will be built in Yliskylänlahti and the northern part of Laajasalontie in the 2030s.
The Laajasalontie expressway running through Laajasalo will become an avenue that takes all modes of transport into account. New housing and services will be built along the avenue.
Plans
Local detailed plans determine the land use of an area, where we build housing, offices, parks, streets and roads, for example.
Traffic connections
There is a bus and metro connection from Laajasalo to Helsinki city centre, and in the future a light rail line will cross the distance in 15–20 minutes. The Crown Bridges will have pedestrian and bicycle lanes, and the extension of the Baana, a long unified cycleway, is being planned for Laajasalo.
Services
Growth will bring new services to Laajasalo and Yliskylä, and existing services will be developed together with the residents. Explore the services using the map below.
