The new city bike season starts on 1 April and will last until the end of October. Helsinki and Espoo have a joint city bike service, while Vantaa has its own. Bikes from the two different systems cannot be used interchangeably. The Journey Planner shows you the stations, number of bikes available and routes to the stations.
Longer bike rides
You can now use the city bikes twice as long at a time! The ride time in Helsinki and Espoo has been increased from 30 to 60 minutes, while in Vantaa, you can now use the bikes for two hours at a time. The wishes for a longer ride time expressed in customer surveys have been taken into account and we are piloting a longer ride time this season.
All passes include an unlimited number of one or two-hour rides during their period of validity. If you use a bike for more than 60 minutes continuously in Helsinki and Espoo, an additional charge of €1 will be added for every 30 minutes. In Vantaa, the fee for every additional 60 minutes is €1. The maximum time of use is five hours. After five hours, a late fee of €80 will be charged in addition to the extra charges.
Register for the whole season or for one month, week or day
Season passes for Helsinki and Espoo are already available for purchase at https://www.hsl.fi/en/citybikes(Link leads to external service). A pass for the entire seven-month season costs €35.
Starting 1 April, you can also buy a pass for a shorter period of time: a pass for one day costs €5 and a pass for a week €10. Auto-renewing monthly subscriptions became available for the users of city bikes last spring. This new product has now been incorporated into the product range permanently with a price of €10 per month. Monthly subscriptions that have been valid last season will not be renewed automatically at the beginning of the new season.
All city bike stations will be available during April
Due to challenging weather conditions, all bike stations will not be installed by 1 April. However, the goal is to have all the stations installed during April. You can see all the available stations on the city bike page and in the Journey Planner. By allowing the Journey Planner to use your location, you can find all the nearby bike stations, the number of bikes available at each station and the best route to your station. You can obtain the same information by entering your address in the Journey Planner.
The city bike network comprises nearly 4,600 bikes in Helsinki and Espoo. There are 347 bike stations in Helsinki and almost 110 in Espoo. Vantaa has 1,000 bikes and 121 stations.
