Information on booking
Youth groups, organisations, associations and other individuals and groups can book the spaces for their use, such as organising group or camp activities. You can book youth spaces for both regular and occasional use. Various equipment and tools can also be reserved for your use.
Organisations, associations and other groups and individuals can apply for a regular, weekly booking from the Youth Services’ facilities for activities lasting at least three months. Youth space facilities for the autumn-spring season must be applied for by the last working day of April.
The youth spaces’ season booking application period for activities in autumn 2024 and spring 2025 ended on Tuesday 30 April 2024. The applications were submitted via the Varaamo service (Link leads to external service) Read the application instructions for season bookings below.
You can make a single booking by using the forms of Youth Services. The form must be submitted to the youth space from which the booking is applied. The Contact the youth spaces to get the booking form(Link leads to external service).
For selected locations, single bookings can be made via the Varaamo service(Link leads to external service) throughout the year.
Camp and course centre spaces
Camp and course centre spaces for the following year must be applied for by 15 September (if the deadline is a Saturday or public holiday, the application period ends on the previous weekday).

The application period for camp and course activities in 2025 ended on 15 September 2024. You can ask about possible available time slots by contacting service locations directly from 2 January 2025 onwards.

Day camps during summer breaks
Spaces for day camp activities for the following year must be applied for by 15 September (if the deadline is a Saturday or public holiday, the application period ends on the previous weekday).
The application period for day camp for the summer of 2025 has ended. You can ask about possible available time slots by contacting service locations directly.
Day Camps during autumn, Christmas and winter breaks
You can make a day camp application by using the forms of Youth Services. The application period has ended. You can ask about possible available time slots by contacting service locations directly.
Varaamo is on online booking service run by the City of Helsinki. Use the service to book the City of Helsinki’s public spaces, work stations and equipment. Go to the Varaamo website (Link leads to external service)
Youth Services have several locations that provide different kinds of equipment for borrowing. For example, you can borrow camping equipment from Wempaimisto(Link leads to external service) and light and sound equipment from the AV Lending Centre(Link leads to external service). If you are making music, you can use recording studios(Link leads to external service) and band practice facilities.
The use of the spaces and services is divided into free use and use subject to a fee.
Free use
- Activities of registered Helsinki-based organisations and associations
- Independent group activities and civic activities of Helsinki residents and communities
- Afternoon activities of schoolchildren in accordance with the Basic Education Act, group and individual instruction in basic education in the arts and group activities promoting integration. The activities of educational institutions aimed at persons under 29 years of age are always free of charge
- Own operations of the City of Helsinki’s divisions and the City Executive Office
Use subject to a fee
- Activities of companies and religious communities
- Activities organised by residents and communities of other municipalities
- Activities organised by other operators
- Private events

Fees for equipment and tools

Priority criteria for allocation of spaces
Season bookings are allocated on the basis of the following priority criteria:
- Own operations of Youth Services
- Recreational and civic activities aimed at 9–24-year-olds organised by a registered or unregistered Helsinki-based association, group or community (not activities organised by a company)
- Own operations of the City of Helsinki’s divisions and the City Executive Office
- Other activities organised by a registered or unregistered Helsinki-based association, group or community (not activities organised by a company)
- Activities organised by companies, private individuals and other municipal organisations and communities

Application instructions
Fill in the electronic application at tilavaraus.hel.fi(Link leads to external service) between Thursday 4 April 2024 and Tuesday 30 April 2024 at 16:00.
- Log into the service
- At the top of the page, select Season booking
- Select fill in the application
- Add the spaces you like to the application
- Select the application round and click the fill in the application button
- Fill in the booking details
- Rearrange the spaces in the order of your preference
- Save your booking request
- Add another season booking request if you would like to apply for a space for another group
- Set your preferred time requests and other time requests (all spaces). Check the available times slots for each space
- Fill in your own/your organisation’s/association’s/community’s/company’s information
- Check the application details, accept the terms of agreement and submit the application
- Go to 'Own applications' and check that the status of your application is 'In process', Submitted applications are marked with a blue In process icon
Explore the available spaces and add the most suitable ones to your application. You can rearrange and remove spaces from your application later. You can edit your application until the end of the application period.
Add all season bookings to the same application. If the number of spaces is large and it is not possible to apply with one application, please contact Varaamo customer service varaamo@hel.fi(Link opens default mail program).
If the same applicant has submitted several applications, only the most recent application will be considered. Please delete previously submitted applications. Submitted applications are marked with a blue In process icon.
List all suitable spaces and times for the activity in the application. Providing more space and time options will improve your chances of getting spaces and times you like. The spaces are listed in the system both as individual spaces and as full premises. This makes it possible to list requests to several spaces at the same location. Make sure you also reserve time for preparing the space and final cleaning.
Applications will be prioritised in accordance with priority criteria. Submit your application as an organisation, group or association if your activity is part of association activity, voluntary civic activity or city activity. Applications submitted by private persons and companies come last in the priority criteria. Check that the target group of the activity and the type of activity are marked correctly on your application
The applicant must accept the terms of agreement before submitting the application.
Booking confirmation
The booking confirmation will be delivered to the email address listed in the application by the end of May 2024.
