A new drop-off point for assistive devices will open at Kallio Family Centre on Monday 8 July. The drop-off point can be used to return standard wheelchairs as well as smaller assistive devices, such as walkers and tongs.
From now on, there will be two drop-off points in Helsinki, one in Kallio and one in Myllypuro.
The Kallio drop-off point is located on the first floor of the Kallio Family Centre, at Toinen linja 4 C. The Kallio drop-off point is open Mon-Thu 7.00–19.45 and on Fridays 7.00–17.45.
Note: Kallio drop-off point’s opening hours until 11 August are at 8.00-16.00.
The Myllypuro drop-off point is located in the entrance hall of the health station, at Jauhokuja 4. The Myllypuro drop-off point is open Mon-Fri 7.50–19.50.
The drop-off point is automated and easy to use, giving step-by-step instructions on how to make a return. To use the machine, you need to have a mobile phone with you. There will be staff present to guide on how to use the drop-off point at Kallio on Monday 8 July at 10-12.
When you enter your phone number into the machine, it will send a return code to your phone. The code opens a locker for the item to be placed in. You will also receive a text message confirming that the return has been made.
Assistive devices can also be returned to Konala or the mobile service unit
You can return assistive devices by taking them to a drop-off point, or you can deliver them to Konala Assistive Device Services on Mondays and Tuesdays between 8.00 and 16.00, on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9.00 and 17.00, and on Fridays between 10.00 and 14.00. Assistive devices can also be returned via the assistive device services’ mobile unit. The mobile unit accepts returns on Tuesdays and can be found at Kontula Senior Centre from 9.30 to 11.30 and at Kustaankartano Senior Centre from 13.00 to 15.00. Assistive devices can only be borrowed from the Konala service point.
Note: The assistive device services’ mobile point will be on a summer break from 25 June to 30 July 2024.
