In accordance with the Social Welfare Act, our clients are children in need of special support.
Family social work supports children and parents in, for example, issues related to a child's illness or puberty, or when the family is struggling with internal conflicts or parental exhaustion.
Our goal is to enforce parenting and to help the family find their resources. The family social worker and the family cooperate closely to bring about change.
We can offer our client families a variety of services, including home services for families with children, family work, and support person activities.
The family social worker prepares a client plan and tailors a set of services and support measures for the family according to its needs.
We cooperate with schools, daycare centres, family counselling clinics and specialised health care.
If you need help and support for your family's situation, contact social guidance for families with children.
If your family is in a seriously straining life situation and you think that your child and family are in need of support, contact the service needs assessment unit for families with children in your area.
The service needs assessment and support unit for families with children will survey your child's need for special support. If you are moving to Helsinki and have received family social work in your current municipality of residence, the service needs assessment and support unit for families with children will assess your family's need for support after you have moved to Helsinki.
Family social work is free of charge.
