Please read the descriptions and themes of the visiting units before filling in the visit request form.

General upper secondary education prepares you for your further studies and the future. The City has 14 general upper secondary schools and 1 general upper secondary school for adults. You can enrol in a general programme, special emphasis programme, or a school with a special educational task. 

Alppila Upper Secondary School

Location: Alppila Upper Secondary School is located in the Alppila district in Helsinki.
Further details: There are 800 students aged 16 to 19 in Alppila Upper Secondary School.
Themes and topics: Sustainable development, language learning assessment of the student's learning and competence, student welfare, learning environments. To receive and to give tours to visitors there is a group of international student ambassadors at school who are not only experts in upper secondary studies but also well informed about the Finnish educational system in general.
Guidance also in Japanese, Spanish, French, German and Arabic.
 

Brändö Upper Secondary School (swedish speaking unit)

Location: Brändö Upper Secondary School is located in the Kulosaari district in South East Helsinki.
Further details: There are about 435 students aged 16 to 19 in Brändö Upper Secondary School.
Themes and topics: Literacy/media literacy, student welfare, special educational task sports. Language of instruction is Swedish.

Etu-Töölö Upper Secondary School

Location: Etu-Töölö Upper Secondary School is located near by the city centre in the Töölö district in Helsinki.

Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages

Location: Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages is located in the Myllypuro district in East Helsinki.

Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Natural Sciences

Location: Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Natural Sciences is located near by the city centre in the Kumpula district in Helsinki (Kumpula campus of Helsinki University, a campus that is dedicated to research and teaching in the exact natural sciences.).

Visual Arts School of Helsinki, Upper Secondary School

Location: Visual Arts School of Helsinki is located near by the city centre in the Kallio district in Helsinki.

Mäkelänrinne Upper Secondary School

Sibelius Upper Secondary School

Location: Sibelius Upper Secondary School is located in the historical Kruununhaka district in the centre of Helsinki.

Stadin AO, Helsinki Vocational College

Stadin AO is a multi-disciplinary vocational college run by the City of Helsinki. We provide education for both young and adults, in 5 campuses and 14 locations all over Helsinki. We have around 22 000 students yearly, coming from various culture-, language- and age groups. We offer the possibility to study for 29 different qualifications and over 50 professions, in Finnish language. 

In Stadin AO, students have their  personal competence development plan based on their personal style of learning and desired career path. Studies consist of vocational and common study units, and each vocational study unit is assessed by competence demonstration. As Finnish VET is working life oriented, our students have variety of possibilities to acquire competences in our partner companies.

Location: 5 campuses and 14 locations all over Helsinki.
Themes and topics: international affairs, digital pedagogics, entrepreneurship and working life cooperation. Other themes include e.g. development and quality, sustainability, learning support, inclusion, study guidance, student well-being, Finnish as a second language and preparatory training for an upper secondary qualification.

Liberal adult education services-
Helsinki Finnish Adult Education Centre and Helsingfors arbis

Helsinki Finnish Adult Education Centre and Arbis are the biggest adult education centres in Finland. The education centres offer a diverse selection of courses, hobbies, public lectures, concerts, theatre activities, events and open university studies.

Affordable prices and free lectures and events allow everyone to participate. The locations are easily accessible by public transport. 

The adult education centre activities are primarily intended for over 16-year-olds. Courses are also available for younger people and families. The centres are open for all customers regardless of their place of residence. Arbis activities are also open to customers who do not speak Swedish as their mother tongue.

Helsinki Finnish Adult Education Centre (Link leads to external service)(Link leads to external service)

It offers more than 5,400 inspiring courses, 300 lectures and events every year. Teaching is provided mostly in Finnish, but courses with instruction in other languages are also provided.
