On election day, people with a right to vote can only cast a ballot at a polling station in their own voting district, as their voter information can only be found on the voter register of their own voting district. Voting districts are defined by voters’ municipality of residence in the population register on 21 February 2025.
Polling station information can be found on the notification of right to vote (ilmoitus äänioikeudesta) sent by post from the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV).
Bring this notification with you to the polling station if you like, but it is not necessary to have it to vote. The notification is sent electronically to eligible voters who have registered with the online Suomi.fi service. For all other eligible voters, the notification of right to vote (ilmoitus äänioikeudesta) will be sent by post in the traditional way.
Voters must verify their identity to an election official before casting a vote at polling stations.
Remember to bring a valid ID.
If you are unsure about your election day polling station or right to vote, please contact the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV), tel. 029 553 6370(Link leads to external service).
