In municipal elections, candidates can be nominated by political parties registered in the party register or constituency associations.
A constituency association can nominate one candidate, and ten other voters from the municipality in question must support the nomination. Constituency associations can work together to establish a joint list.
The political parties and constituency associations must submit their candidate applications to the Helsinki Municipal Central Elections Committee, located on the third floor at street address Kaisaniemenkatu 3 B 15–16.
Helsinki Municipal Central Election Committee secretaries Timo Lindén and Veera Reuna will accept applications 12.00-14.00 on 26 February 2025, 13.00–15.00 on 27–28 February 2025, 9.00–15.00 on 3 March 2025 and 9.00–16.00 on 4 March 2025.
Documents can be submitted at any earlier time by calling tel. +358 9 310 13344 and arranging a suitable time to deliver them.
Candidate application from political parties and constituency associations, as well as notifications of the formation of electoral alliances and joint lists, must be submitted by 16.00 on Tuesday 4 March 2025 at the latest. In accordance with section 152 of the Finnish Election Act, applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.
Documents mentioned in section 38 of the Election Act can be submitted 12.00–16.00 on 12 March 2025 and announcements mentioned in section 40 can be submitted 9.00–12.00 on 13 March 2025.
