Day activities support the well-being, rehabilitation and living at home of elderly Helsinki residents whose memory or functional capacity has declined. With our activities, we also support the coping skills of relatives and informal caregivers.
You can apply for day activities by contacting Senior Info. If you are already a home care or informal care client and would like to participate in day activities, do not hesitate to contact your designated worker.
First, we will make an assessment of your service needs, upon which the decision to grant access to day activities will be determined. The decision is made by our client assistance team. We prepare individual care and service plans for our day activity clients. During the day, the program includes various activities according to the clients' wishes, such as discussion and mental well-being groups, music sessions, shared dining and exercise moments, outdoor activities, and individual and group exercises led by therapists.
The day activity fee includes breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee.
You also have the option for round-trip group transportation from your home to where the day activities are held.
Usually, the client attends day activities once a week. A full day of activities lasts for approximately six hours. A half-day lasts up to four hours.
We organise day activities at our own senior centres and service homes, as outsourced services and with a service voucher. If you opt for the service voucher, you will cover part of the activity costs to the company organising them.
You can find more information on the service voucher for day activities of the elderly in the palse.fi service (in Finnish or Swedish) under the heading 'Helsingin sosiaali- ja terveystoimi -> Ikääntyneiden päivätoiminnan palveluseteli'.
