We will map your situation
We will be in touch with you. We will discuss your situation with you and assess your functional ability with you and your loved ones. We will go over the different service options with you and prepare a client plan.

Assessment period begins
The Rehabilitative Assessment Unit will make a more detailed mapping of your functional ability and the kind of support you may need in order to live at home. The assessment period at your home will take 1 to 4 weeks.
The Rehabilitative Assessment Unit will also assess the need for home care if your ability to function becomes impaired during hospital care. In this case, the Rehabilitative Assessment Unit will be contacted by the hospital.

You will receive a decision
The criteria for granting home care are the same for everyone. In addition to your functional ability, these criteria include your housing conditions and the possibilities of your loved ones to help you. We will make a decision on home care.

If you receive a positive decision on regular home care, you will receive home care either as a service provided by the City of Helsinki or as an outsourced service. We can also provide you with a service voucher, allowing you to purchase home care yourself.

We offer you temporary home care if your ability to function has been temporarily impaired, for example, after surgery. Temporary home care can be provided for up to two months.
At the start of home care, we will prepare an individual care and service plan together with you. We will assess your care and service plan regularly and as needed.
If you have any questions about your own home care or that of your loved one, please contact the home care unit in question.
