Carpet washing piers and the drying of carpets
The carpet piers on the shores of Helsinki are open in the summer months. Carpets can usually be washed on the piers from the beginning of May, when the washing facilities are made available after the winter. In the fall, the use of the carpet washing piers ends at the turn of October and November. The length of the season is affected by factors such as the ice melting in spring, so exact dates cannot be announced in advance.
There are drying presses near the piers with which you can squeeze most of the water out of the wet carpets. There are also drying racks for carpets near the washing facilities.
The city will not build new carpet washing piers anymore. The current piers are in such a good condition that they will serve their purpose for several years.
