Physical activity to support functional capacity at service centres

Service centres have exercise groups to support functional capacity which are led by physiotherapists and other sports professionals.

You can participate in a service centre's opportunities for physical activity that support functional capacity if you are finding it difficult to cope with everyday life or are working as an informal caregiver.

Exercise groups are available at all service centres. Sign up for an exercise group by contacting the exercise group instructor. The instructor will be able to help you find an exercise group that is appropriate for your functional capacity and needs.

Participation is free of charge. You will need a service centre card, which you can free of charge from the information desk at any of our service centres. The service is intended for pensioners in Helsinki.

Our service centres also have a free gym and offer exercise group activities led by other operators.

Do you already have a service centre card?

You can get a free service centre card from the service centres' information desk if you are retired or unemployed living in Helsinki.

When applying for the service centre card, you can prove your retirement with an earnings-related pension card or a pension or benefit decision. If you are currently not working and you are registered as an unemployed job seeker, you can apply for a service centre card on the basis of unemployment. You can print out a certificate of the validity of your job seeking from the TE Service’s E-services (webpage in Finnish)(Link leads to external service)
