The Purolahti birdwatching tower is a good observation point
The Purolahti birdwatching tower is an excellent place for observing birds. Lapwings, redshanks and yellow wagtails nest near the birdwatching tower. At the basins next to the tower, you can see, for example, greylag geese and goldeneyes raising their litters. You can also see the water area in front of Mölylä and the island of Loppi from the tower. If necessary, the canopy of the lower part of the tower offers cover from the rain.
The Purolahti birdwatching tower has often been successful in the playful competition held by BirdLife Finland, where the aim is to sight as many bird species as possible from bird towers. In spring 2023, the team that competed in the Puromäki birdwatching tower ranked fourth in the whole of Finland by observing 101 bird species.
