Gestational diabetes is a disruption in the body's sugar metabolism that occurs for the first time during pregnancy and usually disappears after delivery. Almost all pregnant mothers are screened for gestational diabetes at the maternity clinic using a glucose tolerance test.
If you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes, the nurse will refer you to a gestational diabetes group. In the group, you will learn how to measure your blood sugar and adjust your diet.
Participation in the group is free of charge.
