Free contraception

Some contraceptives are free of charge for all Helsinki residents. Contraceptives are always free of charge for people under the age of 25.

Contraceptives may be free of charge, under the criteria listed below. Products from the basic range of medicinal products available in Helsinki are free of charge.  If you are entitled to free contraception, please contact a maternity and child health clinic, school or student health care, a health station, or the centralized contraception counseling service.

If the contraceptive is subject to a fee for you, you will receive an electronic prescription to buy it at a pharmacy.
