Aurora Rehabilitation Unit

We provide community housing for Helsinki residents in mental health rehabilitation in accordance with their individual rehabilitation plans.

The Aurora Rehabilitation Unit provides communal housing for Helsinki residents in mental health rehabilitation. The unit serves residents who need support to carry out everyday activities and to manage their condition. Rehabilitation requires commitment and patience from the residents.

The unit provides a safe and calm environment in which practice the skills you need to live independently, with support provided according to your needs.

Staff are available every day from 7.30 to 21.00. Night-time assistance is provided by the Aurora Housing Unit.

The Aurora Rehabilitation Unit has places for 32 residents. The rooms are single or double rooms with a bathroom.

We follow the principles of community care in rehabilitation so that we can support you in regaining the most independent life possible. You get to participate in daily activities, resident meetings and other group activities.

Your personal carer will help you develop an individual rehabilitation plan.

The unit is substance-free.

A client fee is charged for your stay at the Aurora Rehabilitation Unit.

  • The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with a motion sensor.

  • The main entrance parking spaces may be used for this entrance as well. The distance from the parking spaces to the entrance is over 10 m.
  • The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance, giving easy access to the pavement.
  • The route to the entrance is smooth and sufficiently wide and illuminated.
  • The passage has at least 4 steps, with handrails on one side.
  • The entrance stands out clearly and is illuminated. There is a canopy above the entrance.
  • The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens easily manually.
  • The customer service point is located on a different floor than this entrance.

In the facility

  • The customer service point is located on floor 3.
  • For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair; the door opens automatically. The floor numbers in the lift cannot be felt with fingers. The button for the exit floor stands out from the other buttons. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
  • The doors in the facility stand out clearly.
  • The facility has an accessible toilet on floor 3.
