Learn more about the different forms of support available to you
As a support person, you can be part of a child’s or young person’s life, bring them joy and, at the same time, offer the presence of a safe adult. You do not need to have any special skills or knowledge: being yourself is enough.
A support family is a family that welcomes a child into their home for a weekend every month. A support family can be a family with children, a couple or a single person.
Short-term foster families take care of children or young people when they have to be placed outside their home for a short period. A short-term foster family can be a family with one or two parents.
Foster parenting can be the beginning of a shared life-long journey. As a foster parent, you do not need any special skills, just the willingness and ability to lead a child-oriented life.
